The City of Virginia Beach Department of Agriculture along with Virginia Beach 4-H are planning to once again have a large presence at this years Pungo Strawberry Festival.  Numerous 4-H Clubs will have exhibits on display.  The annual 4-H Livestock Show will get started on Friday, May 23 with 87 4-H’ers (ages 9-13) showing 150 hogs, steers, and lambs.  The annual 4-H cured ham contest judging will get underway Friday as well.

You won’t want to miss the Lamb Obstacle Course or Lamb Costume Contest scheduled to take place starting at 1:30 pm on Saturday.  The annual Livestock Sale will take place Saturday at 5 pm, where the 4-H’ers hard work will really pay off!

Come test your skills & learn how to improve your shot.  The Virginia Beach 4-H Sharp Shooters will be offering an educational and learning experience with a Crossman Air Trailer.  Air Rifle instruction will be provided by NRA certified instructors & youth members.

We’ll continue to keep things hopping with the 4-H Cottontails Rabbit Club’s rabbit show and agility course that will take place Saturday.  Beach Party Ponies with the Red Baron Rider’s 4-H Horse and Pony Club will also be offering pony rides all weekend.

You’ll want to make sure you set some time aside to explore all the 4-H exhibits set up under the 4-H tent and the Fun Barn.  The Fun Barn will be filled with farm animals and fun hands-on activities for the kids.  We hope to see you at the 25th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival.  We’ll be located at the southern end of the Festival, look for the big white tent.
